A universal carnival of Bengali people celebrated at the advent of Bangla New Year, which is the most joyful, colorful and amazing festival of Bangladesh. Baishakh is the 1st month of Bangla New Year. The day is celebrated all over the world by Bangla speaking people through colorful processions, Baishakhi fairs, demonstration of traditional heritages. Panta-Ilish (Hilsha with waterary rice) is famous Bengali dish served everywhere as part of the celebration.
Early in the morning, the day is welcomed through musical celebration that takes place in Ramna Batamul of the city. The most attractive part of the celebration is Mongol Shuva Jatra that starts from the campus of University of Dhaka and paraded the city with colorful motifs, posters and sybmols.
Mongol Shuva Jatra is now recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It also represents solidarity and a shared value for democracy, uniting people irrespective of caste, creed, religion, gender or age.
