The national memorial monument is located at Savar 35 km northwest of Dhaka. The mausoleum is standing as the memorial of great sacrifice of the great martyrs of Bangladesh's War of Liberation. In 1978, a national competition was organized for the design to build this monument. Architect Moinul Hossain's design was selected from the 57 contestants.
The main building consists of seven triangular walls on the uneven height and distinct foundation. The highest pillar is at the base of the minimum length, and the column is placed on the longest base, with the lowest height. The walls are angular with a fold in the center and one row around another row. The highest point or height of the structure is 45.72 meters high. The structure is arranged in such a way that it looks at different shapes from different angles.
